Contracting & Employment

In partnership with the District of Columbia, Hoffman-Madison Waterfront (HMW) is transforming The Wharf into a world-class neighborhood. We are working closely with our partners at the DC Department of Small and Local Business to provide opportunities for DC businesses. We urge DC businesses to apply for certification and to take advantage of the many services provided by DSLBD to DC certified businesses.

HMW is also working collaboratively with the DC Department of Employment Services to assure maximum job and apprenticeship opportunities for DC residents. Residents seeking employment and apprenticeship opportunities are encouraged to visit to the DC Department of Employment Services website.

Whether you’re looking for a new place of employment or would like to gain skills in a new field of business, you can find a variety of career readiness and pre-apprenticeship training opportunities through The Wharf, including:

Building Futures provides occupational training with industry-recognized certifications, blueprint reading, construction math, and job readiness training. Graduates are placed into registered apprenticeships and construction jobs. To sign up, contact Sylvia Casaro at scasaro@dclabor.org or call 202-506-0398.

Skyland Workforce Center provides high-quality workforce development programs in one location, leading to work-ready employee candidates, career-focused job placement, economic self-sufficiency, and improved quality of life. The program leverages its relationships to connect DC residents directly with construction jobs. To sign up, visit their website or call 202-793-2131.

Get Your Fill at The Wharf

Fresh seafood is a given at DC’s Southwest Waterfront. But The Wharf offers more, including a wide selection of distinctive choices for food, drinks, and entertainment while you eat. Watch the chefs prepare your meal. Listen to live music. Or just people-watch while you savor the flavors of The Wharf.
