Celebrate Spring at the Home of the Cherry Blossoms

See the Cherry Blossoms at The Wharf

Updated March 25, 2022

Celebrate spring at the Home of the Cherry Blossoms. The Wharf has an incredible front-row seat to the hundreds of cherry blossom trees at East Potomac Park. Admire the blooms as they reflect off the water while you enjoy blossom-inspired treats and gifts from our businesses. Extend your visit and stay at one of our hotels to get the full Bloomaroo experience. The Wharf is also just a short 7-minute walk to the blossoms along the Tidal Basin.

Celebrate with Bloomaroo
Saturday, April 2nd, 1pm-9:30pm

Experience Wharf-wide, free cherry blossom–themed fun with live music, art, games, and water activities—all capped off with a fireworks finale at 8:30pm. Look for beer gardens on Transit Pier and District Pier. Get your skate on at the pop-up roller rink at Transit Pier. Toast some s’mores at our fire pit. And rock out to local bands!

Peep the Petals from a Pink Kayak
March 25th - April 3rd, 10am-6pm

Paddle your way to East Potomac Park for a new view of the cherry blossoms. Boating in DC welcomes beginner and experienced kayakers alike to The Wharf's Boathouse, where you’ll get outfitted with a single or double pink kayak and push off for three hours of peeping the petals around the nearby park. The main loop is ringed with multiple species of cherry blossom trees and offers an awesome option for seeing even more blooms beyond the Tidal Basin!

See the Blooms from a Boat
Set sail on City Cruises. The Water Taxi and boats glide along the Potomac River and offer a serene way to experience the cotton candy–colored shore. During Bloomaroo, the Odyssey is offering cherry blossom–themed dining cruises.

Explore the Cherry Blossoms at Hains Point
Walk, bicycle, or drive over the Case Memorial Bridge to East Potomac Park. As you approach the parkland, you’ll be treated to a view of the island’s gorgeous variety of cherry trees. Travel around the 4.1-mile loop of the Hains Point Trail for in-depth views of the blossoms.

2022 Peak Bloom
This year’s Peak Bloom—meaning 70% of the cherry tree buds are open—fell between March 22nd - March 25th. Experts at the National Park Service closely monitor the trees and will offer any updates as Peak Bloom approaches. You can also follow the Bloom Watch here.

Think Pink with a Cherry Blossom-themed Getaway
