With Hoffman-Madison Waterfront's countdown clock ticking toward an October opening, there are more than 1,500 workers busy building, finishing and otherwise ensuring that The Wharf is on track.

Locals avoided the underutilized Southwest Waterfront for years, but that’ll change when the first phase of a $2 billion private development, The Wharf, opens this fall.

Prolific D.C. developer PN Hoffman is putting its money where its mouth is, permanently moving its corporate headquarters to The Wharf development on the Southwest Waterfront.

The Brindley Brothers, owners of Jammin Java in Vienna, will open their first DC club at The Wharf come fall. Called Union Stage, it joins a number of other music venues already slated for the mile-long development along the District’s Southwest waterfront.

Washington D.C. has two exceedingly good reasons to celebrate this coming Oct. 12. That’s when Foo Fighters will headline the opening of The Anthem, the city’s new highly-anticipated $60 million venue located within The Wharf, a new multi-billion dollar development complex situated along the banks of the Potomac River. Dave Grohl says the club is set to become the 'number one venue in America.' 

For three years cranes have been at work in Southwest D.C. erecting the first phase of a waterfront aimed at putting the city’s smallest quadrant on the map for locals and visitors alike.

Two apartment buildings within The Wharf on the Southwest D.C. waterfront, totaling nearly 650 units between them, will begin leasing, by appointment only, on May 15. Both are expected to welcome their first tenants in the fall, if not sooner.

Washington Gas has reached a deal to shift its headquarters to The Wharf, a significant win for developers PN Hoffman and Madison Marquette and more momentum for the $2 billion mixed-use development in Southwest D.C. slated to open its first phase in October.
